In the group stage encounter against Pakistan at the 20-20 World Cup 2016, Pakistan were restricted to 118 in the first innings. The surface was assisting the bowlers and India had lost the first three wickets for just 23 runs on the board.

Virat Kohli, however, held firm at the one end and stabilized the innings with Yuvraj Singh. The duo added 61 runs for the fifth wicket before Singh got out in the 12th over for a 23-ball 24. Kohli, however, went on to score a crucial half-century.

His unbeaten 55 off 37 balls helped the team chase down the score in 18 overs in the end.
