Virat Kohli spots MS Dhoni at an unusual place, shares photograph on his Instagram story
Virat Kohli shares a special bond with the former Indian captain MS Dhoni which he’s spoken about several times in his interviews. Earlier this year, in September during the Asia Cup, Kohli revealed that Dhoni was the only person to text him when he quit the Test captaincy in January 2021. He then went on to reveal that Dhoni’s message uplifted him. On Monday, Kohli posted an Instagram story about Dhoni on how the former India skipper is everywhere.
Kohli shared a picture of a water bottle, in which Dhoni’s image was used for advertisement purpose. “He’s everywhere. Even on the water bottle,” Kohli wrote on his Instagram story.

Earlier, speaking on the Bangalore franchise Podcast, Kohli revealed what Dhoni texted him during the lean patch and how the message “hit home” for him.
“The only person who has genuinely reached out to me has been MS Dhoni. And for me that is such a blessing to know that I could have such a strong bond and such a strong relationship with someone who is such a senior to me where things are, it is a friendship which is based on a lot of mutual respect,” Kohli said on the Bangalore franchise Podcast.
Kohli and Dhoni have several memorable moments together in Indian team
Kohli was a part of India’s successful campaign in the 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni. He took over the Test captaincy after MS Dhoni retired from the format in 2014. The world-cup-winning captain further gave up his captaincy of limited-overs cricket in 2017 to Kohli.
Dhoni also groomed Kohli as the leader till he was part of India’s limited overs team. There were many instances when Kohli was seen taking advice from the former skipper during a tense situation in the game.
Dhoni was also involved in Kohli’s one of the most memorable knocks in T20Is at Mohali during the 20-20 World Cup 2016. Back in 2019, Kohli posted an image from the special innings and credited MS Dhoni for testing his running capability during their match-winning partnership.
In an interview, Kohli had also revealed that the former Indian captain also saved him from getting dropped during the early phase of his career.
