Virat Kohli’s participation in the ongoing Test series against England continues to be shrouded in mystery, with the star batsman yet to communicate his availability for the remaining three matches. While Kohli missed the first two Tests due to “personal reasons,” initial reports suggested a potential return for the latter half of the series. However, recent developments indicate a slimmer chance of him featuring in the upcoming Rajkot and Ranchi Tests. This news comes ahead of the crucial Indian Cricket Board selection committee meeting today, where the squad for the remaining matches will be finalized.

Despite the uncertainty, the Board officials remain cautiously optimistic, clinging to the hope that Virat Kohli might announce his availability. This highlights on Kohli’s immense value to the Indian team and their eagerness to welcome him back into the fold. However, Kohli’s silence adds a fresh twist to the narrative. The lack of communication leaves room for speculation about his priorities and the exact nature of the circumstances keeping him away from the team.

‘But whenever he decides to play’

According to a report published this morning by The Indian Express, citing an unnamed Indian Cricket Board official, Kohli hasn’t communicated his availability for the remaining three matches. However, the official added that Kohli will be picked as soon as he confirms his availability. “Virat will decide when he wants to make a comeback to the Indian side. He hasn’t informed us till now but whenever he decides to play, he will be included in the team,” the source said.

The 5-match series is delicately poised at 1-1 after India made a roaring comeback in the recent Vizag Test to avenge the visitors for the loss that they inflicted in Hyderabad. The 3rd Test will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot starting February 15. the remaining two games will be contested in Ranchi and the picturesque Dharamsala. The cricket so far has been exhilarating and hence, fans are looking forward to the remaining games and also hoping that Kohli returns to action.
