Virat Kohli has been dismissed cheaply both innings of the Indore Test. The Delhi batter scored 22 off 52 balls in the first innings at Indore. In the second innings he scored 13 off 26 balls. He has not been able to get over the trio of Matt Kuhemann, Todd Murphy and Nathan Lyon who have troubled him and have not allowed him to score big.

The 34-year-old scored 12 off 26 balls with two fours in the first Test at Nagpur where he was dismissed by debutant Todd Murphy. In the second Test at Delhi, he scored 44 off 84 balls in the first innings with four fours and in the second innings, he scored 20 off 31 with three fours. Kohli has not been able to get back the much-needed form in Test Cricket so far.

India have taken a 2-0 lead in the four match Test series

The right-handed batter has had his problems against spin and has not looked comfortable at all. For him, it has been a big threat against finger spin and wrist spin. Kohli has not had a good time over the last three years. What will hurt him more is that he gets in and gets a start but from there he has not been able to convert his starts into big scores in the white flannels.

India, however, took a 2-0 series lead in the four match Test series against Australia, for India to qualify for the Test Championship final. India need to win the series against Australia by a 3-0 or 3-1 margin. India recorded a victory by an innings and 132 runs at Nagpur and a six-wicket win at Delhi. The Test Championship final will be played in England in June.

Kohli had regained his lost firm in limited overs cricket, he recently broke into the top 5 run getters in ODI cricket. He has scored 46 hundreds and is three short of equaling former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 hundreds. In T20Is, he was in good form as well and was India’s best batter in the 20-20 World Cup in Australia where he made a swashbuckling unbeaten 82 against Pakistan.
