Vikrant Massey bags Dunki filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s OTT debut project!
The upcoming show will be accessible on Disney Hotstar, according to the 61-year-old director, who most recently oversaw the Shah Rukh Khan film “Dunki”. The filmmaker confessed, “We’re actually starting to shoot my OTT show this month. For that, I’m a showrunner rather than a director. A role is being played by Vikrant Massey in a show on Hotstar (Disney Hotstar).”
Rajkumar Hirani revealed to PTI in an online interview, “I’m really pleased with the script and how things have worked out. I’m really involved in this show, and I’m in my own world. Fortunately, COVID-19 allowed us to spend more time at home writing scripts. I’m currently working on more scripts, and in about a month, we’ll start making decisions about our next steps”

Known for his comedic films like “PK,” “3 Idiots,” “Munnabhai,” and the biopic “Sanju,” Hirani also has a few feature ideas that he hopes to develop in the near future. Hirani was supposed to direct the third instalment of the “Munnabhai” series before he made “3 Idiots.” The project even had a title and a teaser, but he decided against moving forward.
When asked if a third installment is still possible, Hirani replied that it has been on his mind for a while, but he doesn’t want to direct it without a compelling story and only to profit from the success of his first two films, “Lage Raho Munnabhai” (2006) and “Munnabhai MBBS” (2003), which starred Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi as a charming goon and his sidekick, respectively.
He added, “I really want to do it because I had a great time making those movies, it’s not that I don’t want to do it. I have attempted to write a ‘Munnabhai’ after each movie. With titles like “Munna Bhai Chale America,” “Munna Bhai BA LLB,” and “Munna Bhai Chal Basse,” I have five incomplete Munna Bhai scripts lying around.”
Since its release on December 21, “Dunki“ has brought in over ₹409 crore worldwide. Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover are among the other actors who feature in the film.
