Venkatesh Prasad has reacted to under-achievement comments on the Indian Team. The former Indian pace bowler felt that the Indian team has not underperformed in cricket for the talent they have. Rather, the former Indian pacer said that the Indian team has been able to several series away from home. The move comes from Prasad following the statement from experts regarding the performance of India.

Michael Vaughan said the other day that the Indian team has underperformed over the last few years for the talent they have. The former English captain believed that the Indian team should have won a major title in the last 10 years, which has not been in the case. Vaughan gave his opinion in a show which was arranged by the broadcasters during the Boxing Day test match between Australia and Pakistan.

Reacting to their statement of Vaughan, Prasad said: “Chokers not, we have won 2 Test series against Australia in Australia, the last one in 2020-21 after 36 all out, I consider as one of India’s greatest especially with more than half first-choice players missing.” The former Indian pacer said that the Indian team won the Test series in 2020/21 despite playing without many first-choice players.

‘There is certainly something not right about not winning any major tournament in 11 years’ – Venkatesh Prasad

The former Indian bowling coach was of the opinion that winning the overseas series against Australia was one of the greatest achievements of an Indian team ever. Prasad was asked about the same in the Q and A session on X. Reacting to the ‘Chokers tag’, the former Indian pacer was quick to react. At the same time, he believed that there was something wrong with India not winning a major tournament in 11 years.

“But there is certainly something not right about not winning any major tournament in 11 years,” added Prasad. When Prasad was the bowling coach of the Indian team in the T20 WC 2007, India won its first and only T20 WC to date. Despite the introduction of the IPL, India has not been able to win a T20 WC. The talent pool of India is one of the best in the world, which makes them a favourite in almost every tournament.
