India’s medium pacer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made a comeback in Ranji Trophy after six years. He last played in the red-ball cricket in the Johannesburg Test in 2018 against South Africa. Currently, the 33-year-old is playing for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy. He has also played his last test match cricket in 2018. Kumar has played some quality cricket while he was playing for India. Fans are quite thrilled to see their favourite bowler return to red-ball cricket.

The Ranji Trophy match between Uttar Pradesh and Bengal has not started on a good note for the UP team. After winning the toss, Bengal chose to field first. Surprisingly, they bowled out the UP at 60 runs. Bengal’s bowling hero Mohammed Kaif took four wickets while Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal took three and Ishan Porel took two wickets.

While chasing, Bengal is already trailing by 18 runs and might end up taking a lead before the first day ends. As it is Bhuvi’s comeback match, he picked up two wickets in a single over. He is bowling at an economy of 1.71. As there are three more days left, it will be interesting to see how the match proceeds from here on.

Bhuvi shines in the Syed Mustak Ali Trophy

Not only in the Ranji Trophy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a brilliant Syed Mustak Ali season as well. As people had almost forgotten about how dangerous a bowler he was, he reminded them of his outstanding performance. The veteran pacer took 16 wickets in seven matches at an economy of 5.67. He also took a five-wicket haul in the tournament.

The 33-year-old played his last match for India in 2022. As the team has some excellent bowlers in the likes of Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvi’s comeback to the national team seems impossible now. However, if Bhuvi continues to perform well in this Ranji season, he might make a comeback to the Indian team as well.
