UEFA Champions League 2022-23 Final Preview: Inter in way of Manchester City’s treble dream

Manchester City will be playing in their second-ever UCL final in club history against Inter Milan in Istanbul.

The time has come to identify the best football club in Europe. Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey will host the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan on Saturday at 3:00 PM ET. (12:30 IST)

Erling Haaland, who is leading Manchester City’s attack and has 12 goals in this year’s Champions League despite not scoring against Real Madrid in the previous round, will be seeking to complete the treble. Inter Milan, the unexpected winner of this year’s semifinal, will go to Istanbul in search of a fourth Champions League title, led by the lethal combination of Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez.

Kyle Walker and Manuel Akanji’s absence from Tuesday’s training has Manchester City worried once more about their bench strength. The Premier League and FA Cup champions have no other injury worries save that. Pep Guardiola remarked on Walker’s absence: “He experienced some discomfort in his back, and yesterday he wasn’t feeling well… we will assess his condition in the coming days.”

Manchester City will be favourites to win their first UCL title and treble

Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s readiness for the championship game is something that Inter Milan is certain about, but they are unsure about Joaquin Correa’s availability. Dalbert is already out of the running.

This match is regarded as one of the most lopsided finals in history, notwithstanding Inter Milan’s UCL Finals history. The treble at the end of the road is too much of a prize, and Manchester City are raging. Although Inter Milan has done well to get thus far, Manchester City is considerably superior in terms of team quality and depth.

However, a similar storyline surrounds the 2021 championship game between Tuchel’s Chelsea and Manchester City. The lesson of the tale is that anything can occur in a one-time game. An upset might occur with just one counterattack here and one error there.

Predicted Line-up for both teams:

Probable Manchester City Starting Eleven (3-2-4-1): Ederson; Walker, Dias Akanji; Stones, Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Grealish; Haaland

Probable Inter Milan Starting Eleven (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Brozovic, Dimarco; Dzeko, Martinez
