‘Tu video game khel raha hai kya?’- Virat Kohli in disbelief of Suryakumar Yadav’s fearless batting
Suryakumar Yadav’s batting has been a breath of fresh air in cricket. The 32-year-old has shocked the world with his fearless brand of cricket and unconventional shotmaking.
While the fans have naturally been amazed at Yadav’s new-age game, it is also the fellow players who have been bewildered at the ease with which Yadav plays.
Suryakumar’s batting exploits have landed him at the top of the batting rankings in T20I cricket. In 2022 the right-hand batter made a sensational 1164 runs at an incredible strike rate of 187.43 and an average of 46.56.
Star India batter Virat Kohli who has seen Suryakumar’s batting from the other end of the pitch has also been wowed by Yadav’s excellent hitting. The two have made 535 runs together in 11 innings so far including 2-century stands and 2 fifties. Yadav recently revealed a chat between the two during one of such innings.
“Once I was batting with Virat (Kohli) bhai, and he came and told me “tu video game khel raha hai kya? Alag chal raha hai tera bhi (Are you playing video games? You are at a different level).” It felt nice to hear these things,” he revealed during an interview with Indian Express.
Rohit Sharma has given full freedom
Suryakumar also revealed Rohit Sharma’s influence on his batting. He said that the Mumbai franchise captain who Yadav played under for a long time has already given him the freedom to play with as much as he wants.
“Rohit (Sharma) is the only one who has seen me for a very long time. But this season, he saw so many knocks that a time came when he didn’t tell me anything. In a few games, he said ‘mujhe ab kuchh bolna nahi abhi tere baare mein (Now I don’t have anything to say about you)’,” he added.
