‘Tu he kar isko support’ – Fans react to Sourav Ganguly’s statement on Sarfaraz Khan being snubbed from Indian Test team
Sourav Ganguly, former India captain, thinks Sarfaraz Khan could have been called up to the nation’s senior Test squad in recognition of his achievements in domestic cricket. The young man from Mumbai has been competing for the last few years, but the selectors have consistently disregarded him.
Sarfaraz was unable to make it to the team, despite having a problem with Team India’s middle order. The selectors have also chosen not to consider Sarfaraz as a result of the sustained poor play of Cheteshwar Pujara as well as Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer due to his injury.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal received their first call-ups, which heightened the controversy over Sarfaraz Khan’s protracted exclusion. There are some doubts about his physical condition and his capacity to compete with top-notch, quick bowling.

Sourav Ganguly, during an interview with PTI, said Sarfaraz Khan will only disprove his critics if given the chance. He said, “I think Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored tons of runs in Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy,” he said. “I think that’s why he is in the squad. I feel for Sarfaraz Khan. At some point, he should get an opportunity for the amount of runs that he has scored in the past three years.”
He also discussed the case of Abhimanyu Easwaran and how he might also get a chance in the future. He said, “And same thing for Abhimanyu Easwaran for the tons of runs he has scored in last five to six years. I am surprised that both of them have been omitted but they should get a chance in future. But Yashasvi Jaiswal is a good selection.”
