It is often said that height is very important for bowlers in cricket. It is believed that the taller a bowler is, the better one can succeed. While the success of a cricketer ultimately depends on a lot of factors like skills, consistency, injury, longevity, and so on, tall bowlers usually have an advantage with their added height. Similarly, shorter batters historically have been successful.
The former Indian great, Gundappa Vishwanath was just 5’3” in height. The middle-order batter is considered one of the finest Indian batters of all time. The right-hander scored 6080 runs in 91 Test matches for India at an average of 41.93, including 14 hundred. Of all the centuries Vishwanath hit in Test cricket, none came in a losing cause.
