Quinton De Kock scored a magnificent ton against Bangladesh in Wankhede stadium in Mumbai in the ODI World Cup 2023. The South African batter broke several records in his knock, including the highest score by a wicketkeeper batter in the history of the ODI World Cup. There are not many wicketkeepers in the world who have scored more runs in an innings than De Kock. Here are the WK batters with highest individual score in a match in ODIs.

5. Jaskaran Malhotra’s 173*

It was a fantastic knock from the wicketkeeper batter of the USA. After being reduced to 72/4 in challenging conditions by Papua New Guinea, Jaskaran played a fabulous knock. In his stay in the middle, Malhotra scored an unbeaten 173*(124), which included 4 fours and 16 sixes. In an over in the match, the lower middle order batter hit six sixes in a row. It was the highest score by a batter from the USA in the history of ODIs.

In the recently concluded match in the ODI World Cup 2023, De Kock scored 174 runs in 140 balls, which included 15 fours and 7 sixes. The South African batter was in his best touch, and he made the best use of it. The Southpaw became the wicketkeeper batter with highest individual score in the history of the ODI World Cup. It was the second instance of De Kock scoring more than 170 runs in an ODI.

3. Litton Das’ 176

In the match against Zimbabwe in March 2020, Das registered the highest score by a wicketkeeper batter from Bangladesh in ODIs. The aggressive batter scored a fantastic ton and took the attack on Zimbabwe. With a good support at the other end from Tamim Iqbal, Das scored 176 runs in 143 balls, which included 16 fours and 8 sixes. Bangladesh won the match easily by 123 runs.

2. Quinton De Kock’s 178

It was the first ODI of the series between South Africa and Australia in 2016. On a tricky surface in Centurion, de Kock played a knock for ages. Chasing 295, De Kock went after the bowlers of Australia for fun. The Southpaw scored 178 runs in 113 balls, which included 16 fours and 11 sixes. The knock of De Kock helped South Africa to chase the total in in just 36.2 overs.

1. MS Dhoni’s 183

It was the third ODI of the series between India and Sri Lanka in Jaipur. Chasing a total of 299 runs, Dhoni played a great knock and almost singlehandedly won the game. Against an attack consisting of Chaminda Vaas, Dilhara Fernando, Farveez Mahroof, Muttiah Muralitharan, Upul Chandana, and Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dhoni scored an unbeaten 183*(145), which took India home. Till date, it is the biggest score in the history of ODIs by a wicketkeeper batter.
