The 2023 Asia Cup is set to bring cricket fever to the entire Asian subcontinent as six teams – India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh – will compete for the continental championship starting on August 30. The 50-over tournament, jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan, will kick off with the Men in Green taking on Nepal. The tournament is also a great preparation for the Asian teams for the upcoming ODI World Cup.

While Pakistan will host four of the 13 matches, the remaining nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka, highlighting the potential for the defending champions to pose a threat again. The six teams have been divided into two groups with India, Pakistan and Nepal in Group A and Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Group B. The top two teams from both groups will enter the Super 4 stage. The final will be played between the top two teams of the Super 4 in Colombo on September 17.

There have been a total of 15 editions of the Asia Cup so far and we have seen many players stamp their authority on the field in sub-continental conditions with their cricketing heroics.

Let’s take a look at the top five opening pairs in Asia Cup history:
