As the ongoing World Cup nears its climax, the excitement and tension mount, with every game becoming more crucial. India, New Zealand, and South Africa have emerged as the frontrunners, and are poised to qualify for the semifinals. Australia are the favourites to claim the remaining spot, but Afghanistan and Pakistan will be determined to challenge them.

The action thus far has been fascinating with the quality of cricket being extremely high in all three departments. Over the last month or so, we have also seen several records tumble and one of them happened today as Quinton de Kock joined an elusive list of players with the most centuries in a single edition of the World Cup.

Here, we look at the top 3 players on that list:

1. Rohit Sharma

India’s Rohit Sharma scored 5 centuries in the 2019 World Cup

India’s current all-format captain, Rohit Sharma holds the record for the most centuries by an individual in a single edition of the World Cup, having notched up five tons in 2019. He smashed hundreds against South Africa, Pakistan, England, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in that tournament, eventually ending with a tally of 647 runs from 9 innings. Rohit’s magnificent form helped India finish the group stage on top of the points table before they eventually lost to New Zealand in the semi-final at Old Trafford.
