While batting first in the rain-interrupted game, Pakistan failed to hold their nerves while facing a quality bowling attack. English bowlers like DR Pringle, P Defretias, and others ripped apart the Pakistani batting line-up and dismissed them for the then-lowest ODI World Cup total. The Asian giants were dismissed for a mere 74 runs.

For Pakistan, Saleem Malik and Mushtaq Ahmed were the top scorers, scoring 17 runs each. Apart from him, not a single batter was able to cross the 15-run mark. However, despite their poor performance, God helped them as the match couldn’t be completed. England was batting at 24/1 when it came down heavily and washed out the game.
