Against the West Indies earlier this year, Kishan registered a hat-trick of fifties as an opener in all the matches of the ODI series. Even in the Asia Cup final, Kishan clicked as an opener. These features make him the most obvious choice as the replacement for Gill. Also, Kishan will be the only left-handed batter in the top order for India, which will be handy in some cases.
