Virat Kohli has been out of form for quite a while now. He has not been able to get amongst the runs. The star batter has got starts but has failed to convert the starts into substantial scores. Kohli even failed to score a single fifty during India’s tour to England. His form has been a hot topic of debate in the cricketing fraternity and they are calls that he should be dropped due to poor form.
Former Rajasthan and India pacer Pankaj Singh said that the star batter will come back into good form and deliver consistent results like he used to. He also went on to say that there will be a phase in all sports persons’ lives where they are not able to deliver results consistently. But, Pankaj Singh did emphasize that Virat Kohli will bounce back strongly. He said that Virat Kohli’s form has faced constant questioning and criticism because of the high standards that he set for himself
“See Virat Kohli is a big player and everyone knows that, that’s why we are speaking about him. Although all of us expect him to do well every time, every cricketer goes through a phase where you fail and don’t perform,” said Pankaj Singh, while speaking to Sports Tiger.
The 37-year-old then talked about whether taking a break from international cricket may help someone like Virat Kohli to get back into form. He addressed how the decision to take a break is a personal choice and if the break helps Kohli to fine-tune himself mentally then he should take the break as it will help him to come back stronger.
“The thought process of a player matters and no one knows it more than the player himself. Kohli has been playing for 15 years so he’d know about himself more than anyone. He’s still playing good shots, but it’s the good ball, the good catch or a moment that stops him. All this will affect him mentally. Hence, this is the real time to test Virat Kohli and see how he comes back. He will comeback for sure and he’s gonna prove that what he was,” he added.
