‘This is the decision of…’ – Gautam Gambhir’s response to Ramiz Raja’s comments about Pakistan boycotting World Cup

Asia Cup 2023 will happen in Pakistan while 50-over World Cup will happen in India.

Pakistan team are currently preparing for the three-match home Test series against England. The series is going to start on 1 December 2022. Recently, they came after suffering a loss in the 20-20 World Cup final against England. However, after the World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman Ramiz Raja came up with an explosive comment regarding the 2023 50-over World Cup.

Before the World Cup, both Boards got involved in an argument over the decision. Jay Shah said that India will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. Then, Jay Shah said that if India decided not to come to Pakistan, then their participation in the 50-over World Cup in 2023 in India will be affected. Now, regarding that stance, the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir came up with a stern response.

“This is the decision of the Indian Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board.” – Gautam Gambhir on Ramiz Raja’s statement

While speaking to Urdu News, Ramiz Raja said: “If Pakistan doesn’t take part in the World Cup scheduled in India next year, who will watch it? We have a clear stand: If the Indian team comes here then we will go for the World Cup. If they don’t come then they can play the World Cup without us. We will adopt an aggressive approach.”

“Our team is showing performance. I’ve always said we need to improve the economy of Pakistan cricket, and that can only happen when we perform well. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, we beat India. We beat India in the T20 Asia Cup. In one year, the Pakistan cricket team defeated a billion-dollar economy team twice.” Ramiz Raja concluded.

In response to that, Gambhir said that whatever decision will be finalized should involve both Boards. While speaking to ANI, Gambhir said: “This is the decision of the Indian Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board. Whatever decision they take, they will take it together.” Even, Anurag Thakur had given a reply to Ramiz Raja. “Wait for the right time. India is a major power in the world of sports & no country can overlook India,” Anurag Thakur concluded.
