‘Thik hai bhai, ab main chalta hoon’- Twitter turns to memes after KL Rahul disappoints in a big match yet again
India clashed against England in their semi-final match on Thursday for a chance to get into the final. Jos Butler won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Indian team were tasked with creating a big total on a batting-friendly Adelaide pitch.
Naturally, there was a lot expected of India’s openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul who have struggled to get going throughout the campaign. Rahul particularly has failed to make runs in any of the important matches and often gets the team into a difficult situation.
Many had hoped that Rahul would come good with the bat in the do-or-die match. All of the hopes however were burnt to the ground in the second over itself when the right-hand batter gave his wicket to Chris Woakes.
Once again the Mangalore-born batter disappointed all and threw the team in limbo. The right-hand batter after scoring a boundary in the first over, knicked an outside-off delivery into the gloves of Jos Buttler to end his short stay at the pitch.
Cricket fans soon took to Twitter to show their dismay and anger at the Indian batter. Many called him to be dropped from the team after this match. Names like stat padder and ‘fraud’ were also used in innumerable posts after KL Rahul failed to perform in a big match yet again.
India has a massive chance to play against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup final after defeating England in the semi-final.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to KL Rahul’s disappointing performance against England in the semi-final:
I call KL Rahul Fraud for a reason. He is unable to score in important matches and under the pressure. And his non performance pressurises the team ultimately.
This is why

I've never said this before on this app but will say it out loud today: KL Rahul, you're the biggest statpadder who never performs in a big match.
No wonder #CricketTwitter calls you a fraud.
