Shikhar Dhawan has been India’s man in World events. Dhawan has done well at the big stages for Team India be it in World Cups or even at the Champions Trophy. In the 2013 edition of the Champions Trophy Dhawan won the golden bat for India in England. 2013 was also the last time that India won a world event. The Men in Blue have not won the elusive piece of silverware since. For Rohit Sharma’s men, this will be the biggest task. India will want to create history like they did in 2011.

Dhawan sent out a congratulatory message to all his teammates who had made it to the World Cup squad. “Congratulations to my fellow teammates & friends chosen to represent India in the WC 2023 tournament! With the prayers and support of 1.5 billion people, you carry our hopes and dreams. May you bring the cup back home and make us proud! Go all out, Team India!ย  #ChakDePhatte #WorldCup,” Dhawan wrote on Twitter.

Shikhar Dhawan has scored 6793 runs for India in ODIs

Dhawan has not been in Team India contention for a while now. When it comes to the left-hander’s career numbers in ODIs, he has amassed 6793 runs in 167 matches at an average of 44.11 and a strike rate of 91.35. He has 17 Hundreds and 39 fifties. Dhawan also proved his worth when it mattered the most for the team as he hit the most runs for India in the Champions Trophy 2013,ย  In the World Cup 2015 and in the Champions Trophy 2017.

India have not had the best of starts to the Asia Cup as they could not get going against Pakistan because of a washout. Both the teams got one point each, In their next game against Nepal India gave way to 230 by dropping some catches early on but they won the match by 10 wickets in the end. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill struck half-centuries for India in a rain-hit encounter. India will have the Super Four Stage in the Asia Cup and also the three ODI’s against Australia in which they will want to iron out their flaws.
