“They have to pick their strong side” – World Cup winner’s bold warning to team India ahead of Bangladesh Test series

Team India are currently busy playing the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. However, on 7 December, they lost the second match of the series. Thus, the home side bagged the series with one more match to go. In the last two matches, the Men in Blue looked absolutely clueless, especially in the batting department. 

However, after this series, India will play a two-match series in Bangladesh. Now, ahead of that series, the former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar shared a warning to Rohit Sharma and his men. He said that India need to win the last ODI to go with a winning momentum in the Test series.

“India need to reduce the margin to 2-1.” – Sunil Gavaskar

While speaking to Sony Sports, Sunil Gavaskar said that team India need to select their strong XI for the last ODI. He said: “They have to pick their strong side. It’s a matter of finding confidence for the Test match that follows. The composition of the Test squad and the ODI squad is going to be a little different,”    

He said that Bangladesh have been outstanding all departments in this series. “But against a team that is batting and bowling so well, Bangladesh have been outstanding. India need to win this. India need to reduce the margin to 2-1. Win the 3rd ODI and get their confidence up and try and win the Test in Chattogram,” Sunil Gavaskar concluded. 

However, on 8 December, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squad for the first Test. However, after the second ODI, Rohit Sharma might not play the Test series due to his injury. He got injured in the second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur.
