‘There’s no guarantee he’ll continue…’ – Former India allrounder’s brutal take on Virat Kohli ahead of LSG clash in IPL 2023

RCB are hosting LSG for their third IPL 2023 game in M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru

The run-machine Virat Kohli will try to resume his scoring ways on matchday 15 of the world’s richest T20 event after exhibiting a rare batting failure against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will play host to the forthcoming IPL 2023 encounter between KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kohli made an explosive start to his campaign for the coveted Orange Cap with an innings of 82* off 49 balls against the record-breaking Mumbai Indians (MI). At Eden Gardens, the Bangalore-based team’s batting collapsed after the former RCB captain was dismissed for 21 runs off of 18 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. After being defeated by KKR on Thursday, RCB will be hungry to avenge their first loss of the new season.

‘Other batters in the RCB squad will have to be ready’ – Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan, a former Indian all-rounder, has made an important revelation regarding the great opener of the RCB team, Virat Kohli, who is expected to lead the batting attack of the Bangalore giants against the visitors Lucknow. Pathan believes that Du Plessis and company should not start Pathan up front in the current IPL since there is no certainty that Kohli will continue his prolific scoring streak.

“This year is looking different for RCB as runs are coming out of Virat Kohli’s bat in the first few games. But it is no guarantee that he will continue scoring at the same pace (or for the remainder of the season) and win you every game,” Pathan said on Star Sports. Kohli has already scored 103 runs in the first two matches of the IPL 2023.

“In a tournament like this, other batters in the RCB squad will have to be ready for the challenge and justify their talents and roles. Also, I don’t think Kohli should be opening the batting for RCB,” the former Indian all-rounder added.
