Virat Kohli had endured 3 tough years from 2019 to 2022. Then came the Asia Cup where he looked better in every game and came back to form. After a long wait, he smashed his 71st century in India’s last game of the Asia Cup against Afghanistan. It was also his maiden hundred in the T20I format. He finished as the second highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2022.

Former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Bangar has worked closely with Virat Kohli when he was the batting coach of the Indian team. He is also part of the Bangalore franchise in the Indian T20 league as the head coach. He, recently, heaped praise on Kohli, labelling him as a ‘Champion’ player.

‘He is a champion batter. He has done that for India for such a long period of time. He knows he is in that phase where he is enjoying his game big time. He knows that the rhythm is back, the hunger is back, you can see that with the body language that he is displaying along with his mates.’ Bangar said.

“That’s what you want to see in him, enjoying. There was a phase where the pressure was getting to him. But after the break, the sense of enjoyment is back, the feeling of hitting a cricket ball is back in his game.”

Virat Kohli has endured a tough patch over the last three years but he has come back with a bang. He, recently, scored a crucial fifty in the third T20I against Australia, which helped the team win the series.
