Yashasvi Jaiswal’s meteoric rise over the past year propelled him to the forefront of Indian cricket. Solidifying his place in both the Test and T20I sides, he has delivered impactful performances that have garnered praise from experts and fans who see him as a cornerstone of India’s future. In the ongoing series against England, he continues to shine, amassing a remarkable 545 runs at a stellar average of 109.

Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s young age belies his appetite for substantial scores. In Tests alone, he boasts three centuries, with the lowest being an impressive 174. This penchant for big runs is further underscored by his two double centuries in the ongoing series against England. These paint a clear picture of his ability to bat for extended periods and rack up imposing totals.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s journey from local fields to international stardom has been remarkable. His childhood coach, Jwala Singh, recently revealed the significant role India captain and Jaiswal’s opening partner, Rohit Sharma, played in his rise. During the Mumbai game a few years back, recalls Singh, Rohit surprisingly called one of Jaiswal’s teammates, requesting to speak with the young player himself. Rohit reportedly told Jaiswal that he belongs at the senior level, igniting excitement in the young opener who immediately informed his coach.

“You are meant to be here…”

“Rohit is a great player, he plays for Mumbai. I remember one day, Yashasvi told me a story. He was playing for Mumbai then. So, Rohit called on some teammate’s phone and said he wanted to talk to Yashasvi. It happened about 4-5 years back. He told Yashasvi, ‘You are meant to be here where I am right now.’ He then quickly called me up and told me about the phone call. He was very excited. Now Rohit is his captain and opening partner, so there is that level of comfort,” Singh said in the interview.

This simple act of encouragement from a cricketing icon like Rohit Sharma had a profound impact on Jaiswal’s confidence and aspirations, contributing to his meteoric rise in the cricketing world.
