‘Thank you, Umpire’ – Top 10 memes after India beat Australia in 5th T20I; wins series 4-1
The 5th T20 between India and Australia just culminated with the hosts emerging victorious in what was a tight low-scoring affair. Having won the toss, Australia, led by Matthew Wade, opted to bowl first at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
India could only manage a total of 160 despite the venue being known for its high-scoring nature due to the flat surface and short boundaries. Shreyas Iyer compiled a superb half-century (53) while the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma, and Axar Patel. For the Aussies, all the bowlers were amongst the wickets with Ben Dwarshius returning the best figures. (2-30)
In response, Australia fell short by 6 runs as apart from Ben McDermott who made 54, none of the other batters got going. Travis Head (28), Tim David (17), Matthew Short (16) and Matthew Wade (22), all got starts but failed to convert them into substantial contributions.
Arshdeep Singh’s last over was the turning point
Coming to the bowing, Mukesh Kumar picked up three wickets while Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi registered two wickets each. Axar Patel picked up just one wicket but gave away just 14 runs and it proved to be a decisive performance.
Axar Patel was adjudged the Player-of-the-match for the massive impact that he had on the game which as mentioned earlier, proved to be defining. While speaking to the host broadcaster, Patel acknowledged that the wicket was tailor-made for him due to the huge spin that was there on offer.
Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi was declared the Player-of-the-Series for his haul of 7 wickets in 4 games at an economy of 8.44 which is decent considering the nature of tracks throughout the rubber. Post the game, he said that he was looking forward to the new challenge that the team will embark on- South Africa T20s.
Throughout the game, the internet was flooded with memes with netizens discovering plenty of humous moments throughout. Here’s a look at some of the best memes that have surfaced on the internet.
