‘Team toh already hacked hai.. account bhi nahi sambhal pa rahe’- Fans troll Bangalore Franchise after its Twitter account gets hacked

The Bangalore franchise’s Twitter account was hacked on Saturday. Fans understood that the hacking had happened right after the infiltrator started putting out NFT-related content on the timeline. The hacker changed the profile name of the franchise’s Twitter account to “Bored Ape Yacht Club” and also changed the profile picture of the account.

The user after doing this, put out some tweets which were about NFT and also retweeted some NFT-related users. It is interesting to note that the franchise have not put off the content and there was no official comment from the Bangalore franchise based on this incident. The Bangalore franchise put out a promotional video when its account was jeopardised.

Here is what happened

Off note, it is not the first time that the franchise’s Twitter account has been hacked. In 2021, it was mishandled but the franchise managed to restore the account and get its activity back to normal.  “Dear 12th Man Army, our Twitter account was compromised a few hours ago and we have now managed to get the access back. We condemn the tweet that the hackers put out and we do not endorse any content from that tweet, which we have now deleted. We regret the inconvenience caused,” The Bangalore franchise said in a tweet in 2021.

Bangalore have made it to three Indian T20 League finals

The Bangalore franchise have been a consistently performing side in the Indian T20 League. They made it to the finals on three occasions in 2009, 2011 and 2016. They have made it to the playoffs on eight occasions. In 2020, they changed their coaching staff and put former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson and former India coach Sanjay Bangar in charge of the coaching staff. They took over from Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra.

From 2020 to 2022, they managed to make it to the playoffs in all three seasons. The Bold Army changed captaincy ahead of the 2022 Indian T20 League Mega auction. Virat Kohli stepped down as captain of the side in 2021 and Faf du Plessis was brought in the 2022 auction and led the side. In the 2023 mini-auction. 

Bangalore bolstered its squad with the signings of Will Jacks, Reece Topley and some other Indian uncapped players. Bangalore who are famous for chopping and changing their squads a lot in auctions retained the core of their squad for the upcoming 2023 season they will be gunning for their first Indian T20 League title this season and ending their 14-year-long drought of not winning an Indian T20 league title.
