The former Indian captain Kapil Dev has praised England’s way of playing cricket, which is known to be ‘Bazball’, or playing it like Brendon McCullum. The former World Cup winner was himself an aggressive batter in his days, who used to smash the bowlers for fun without any fear. A similar way of playing cricket has impressed the former attacking batter.

In a recent interview, the former All-rounder was asked if he likes the way England plays their cricket these days. Kapil replied saying “Bazball is wonderful, cricket should be played like that” and appreciated the way England is playing Test cricket. Ever since Brendon McCullum took over as England’s head coach and Ben Stokes as England’s captain, things have been pretty good for England.

From June 2022 to August 2023, England has not lost a Test series, which will stay true till January 2024, as England will not play a Test series till the start of the next calendar year. Under the coaching of McCullum, England has attracted the crowd to watch them. The goal of McCullum and Stokes has been to revive Test cricket by playing entertaining cricket.

The joy of playing has been reflected in the success of the team. From February 2021 to March 2022, England lost series against India, Australia, New Zealand, and West Indies. After the change of leadership, England won the series against New Zealand (At home), South Africa, and Pakistan, and drew the series against New Zealand in their conditions. England also drew the recently concluded Ashes series.

The way England are playing their cricket has received mixed views. While most support the way England plays Test matches in an aggressive way, there are some who do not want Tests to be played in an attacking way. As a result, there is always criticism of the way the English team plays. The former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has turned out to be one of the admirers of the way England plays Test matches.
