Sunil Gavaskar, while speaking in a recent public interaction, offered his views on the impending comebacks of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant.

“Kya woh khelenge?”

Anticipation for the IPL is heightened by the expected return of Virat Kohli. After missing the Test series against England due to the birth of his second child, fans are eager to see the talismanic batsman back in action. The IPL is likely to mark his comeback, and his presence is sure to generate a buzz, especially for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore, as they aim to win their maiden championship.

While fans eagerly anticipate Kohli’s return, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over his participation. Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, in a recent interaction, questioned Kohli’s availability for the IPL with a playful remark, “Kya woh khelenge? Kuch reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele,” hinting at the possibility of Kohli extending his break. This has sparked speculation and debate, leaving fans waiting with bated breath to see if the star batsman will take the field in the upcoming season.

While speaking about Rishabh Pant‘s comeback, Sunil Gavaskar cautioned against rushing the process. He emphasized that Pant’s health and well-being should be the top priority, allowing him to regain full strength before entertaining fans again. He acknowledged the challenges Pant faces due to his recent accident, recognizing the time required for him to regain his batting fluency.

“I’m also a big fan of him. For me, the most important thing is he should be healthy like before so that he can come and entertain us. It will be very difficult for him and it will take some time for him to get that batting fluency. But good that he has started training. Let’s stay hopeful. This season is first of him coming back to full fitness. Let’s not rush him into doing something that there will be a setback,” the original Little Master said.
