Sunil Gavaskar comes up with valuable advice to other cricket boards

The 74-year-old former India star wasn't happy with what he saw in Durban on Sunday.

Former Indian legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t happy after the 1st T20I between India and South Africa was abandoned. Persistent downpour meant the game on Sunday in Durban saw no action take place.

Many fans and cricket experts called out South Africa’s lack of preparation for the series. It has been a wet start to the summer season in the Rainbow Nation. The second T20I is set to be played on Tuesday in Gqeberha

Sunil Gavaskar’s suggestion to cricket boards –

Gavaskar has given his suggestion to cricket boards around the world. The 74-year-old made his comments after the 1st T20I in Durban was abandoned due to rain on Sunday.

Sunil Gavaskar while speaking on Star Sports India said “Once the schedule has been fixed there is nothing you can do. You can’t fight Mother Nature. There is nothing the South African administration could have done. But from what I saw, where there can be a lot done not just in South Africa but in other countries is that, cover the ground fully”

The former Indian great continued “All the boards have plenty of money if they say they don’t, maybe not as much as Indian Cricket Board but still”. The point made by the 74-year-old resonated with a lot of fans as Durban was seen partially covered on Sunday.

The umpires decided to call off the game just 2 hours later as the fans were left disappointed. A massive crowd had thronged the ground despite a steady downpour for a close look at the Indian Cricket Team. Suryakumar Yadav and his side had just beaten Australia 4-1 in a series before the tour.

The weather in Gqeberha isn’t promising either as there is more rain predicted on Tuesday. While Monday is predicted to be a sunny day, there is a good amount of rain and winds predicted for the next two days.  There is a good possibility that the second game could also meet the same fate as the first match.

The Indian legend ended the matter by saying “Many times what happens is that the rain stops and they take an hour to get the ground ready and the rain comes back. That is one point every board can look into. But you cannot blame South Africa for choosing this venue”
