Star player set to miss India vs South Africa series with replacement being named

Massive news ahead of the three match T20I series between India and South Africa

Indian Cricket team is set to take on South Africa on Sunday in the first T20 game in Durban. Team India will play 3 T20Is and ODI each as well as two test matches during their tour of South Africa.

Suryakumar Yadav is set to lead India for the second time in T20I cricket. The 33-year-old had led the Indian team successfully during the recent series against Australia. India will play just 6 more T20I games before the T20 World Cup next year.

Lungi Ngidi will not be part of the 3-match T20I series against the Indian Cricket Team. The first game will be played on Sunday at the Kingsmead stadium in Durban. As per reports doing the rounds, the fast bowler is suffering from a sprained ankle.

Star player ruled out of T20I series

The 27-year-old is also doubtful for the two-match test series against India set to kick off on Boxing Day. Beuran Hendricks has been named as the replacement for the right-arm pace bowler.

South African selectors had included Ngidi for just the first two T20I games versus India. Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee were also given a break for the final T20I game in Johannesburg. The trio have been rested for the three-match ODI series which is set to follow the T20I series.

Meanwhile, Team India was spotted sweating it out in the nets ahead of the first game in Durban. it will be interesting to see what combination Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian team management decide to play on Sunday.

Kuldeep Yadav is back in the team and is likely to partner Ravi Bishnoi in the bowling attack. There are massive question marks over the team composition with the presence of Mohammed Siraj.

The 29-year-old will be expected to lead the bowling charge along with Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar. The question hence arises if India will go in with one spinner and 4 pace bowlers or go in with 2 spinners.

Team India is set to play 6 T20I games in the coming two months ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Series against South Africa and Afghanistan will be followed by a huge tour of England to India. West Indies and the United States of America will host the next edition of the T20 World Cup set to kick off in June.
