The 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik impressed one and all with his stellar performance in the Indian T20 League 2022. In 16 matches he played for Bangalore, Karthik scored 330 runs with an amazing average of 55.00, including one half-century. He also went not out 10 times in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League.
Following his impressive performances, Dinesh Karthik has made a comeback to the Indian team for the T20I series against South Africa. He was part of the playing XI in the last game but got to play only 2 balls. In a recent interaction with ESPN Cricinfo, Karthik was involved in a ‘Q and A’ session.
Karthik was given the choice to pick one between the ability to fly or read the mind. To that, he said,
“If I had the ability to read the mind of anyone then I will definitely get into the mind of MS Dhoni,” Karthik was quoted as saying to a sports media outlet. To note, Karthik was also part of the Indian team which won the 2007 ICC T20 World cup under Dhoni’s captaincy.
Going a bit back into the time, It was the 2004-05 session when Indian team management preferred MS Dhoni over Dinesh Karthik in the Indian team under the captaincy of former skipper Sourav Ganguly.
Karthik has also had to go through a lot of ups and downs with his place in his cricketing career. He had made comebacks several times after being omitted from the team. He was also part of India’s squad for the 2019 ICC ODI world cup when the team was playing under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and that was the last world cup appearance of MS Dhoni for India.
