Sourav Ganguly gives ruthless reply to reporter’s Ind vs Aus series ‘3-0’ prediction
India and Australia locked horns in the four-Test Match series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy where after the end of two Test Matches Australia were trailing India 0-2 in the four-Test match series. A reporter from Rev Sports asked Ganguly his prediction for the series ahead of the Indore Test his reply left the reporter in splits.
The reporter posed a question to Ganguly, Reporter: “India are 2-0 ahead. Walking into the Indore Test, do you see 3-0?” Ganguly gave a cheeky reply saying, “I see 4-0.” The reporter laughed. “It will be hard for Australia to beat India. In these conditions, we are a far superior team,” The former Indian Cricket Board president added.
India beat Australia in the first Test at Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja the Indian spin twins picked up eight wickets and seven wickets in the first Test and derailed the Australians by spinning a web around them. In the second Test at Delhi, Australia gave a much-improved batting performance but the result was no different.
India had won the second Test at Delhi by 6 wickets against Australia
In the second Test, Though Australia picked up a one-run lead after dismissing India for 262 after making 263 in the first innings, It all changed in the second innings for Australia as Ravindra Jadeja made the Australians dance to his tunes with a phenomenal spell of bowling where he picked up 7-42 in his spell of 12.1 overs which won the game for India.
Cheteshwar Pujara in his 100th Test match played a vital knock of an unbeaten 31 off 74 balls with four fours. He helped India win by six wickets in the second innings after being dismissed for a duck in the first innings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The fourth Test will be played at Ahmedabad where the Indian and Australian Prime Ministers are expected to be present.
India have won the last three editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, of which one was held at home and two of them were held in Australia. The Third Test was initially slated to be hosted in Dharamshala and later was changed to Indore due to outfield problems in Dharamshala.
