Passing Indian Cricket Board President Sourav Ganguly conveyed his good wishes to Roger Binny for being selected as the new president. The former President also said that the new president and his team of office bearers will certainly take Indian cricket to greater heights.

Ganguly was not appointed as the Indian Cricket Board President for another term and was seemingly unceremoniously removed from the post after an Indian Cricket Board meeting was conducted at the Trident Hotel on October 11. “I wish Roger (Binny) all the best. The new group will take this forward. Indian Cricket Board is in great hands. Indian cricket is strong so I wish them all the luck,” Ganguly was quoted as saying.

He reflected on his tenure as Indian Cricket Board President -“You can’t play forever. You can’t be an administrator forever, but it’s been fun doing both and seeing both sides of the coin. I will go for bigger things in future,” Ganguly said on the sidelines of an event related to Bandhan bank.

I thoroughly loved it: Ganguly

“I think I thoroughly loved it. If you see the last three years, so many good things have happened. IPL during COVID, such difficult times for all of us in the country. We didn’t know how to deal with it. The broadcast rights which went to an all time high. The Under-19 winning the World Cup. I wish the women won the Commonwealth Games gold, they were in a position to beat Australia. Senior team winning in Australia. Those were great moments as an administrator. But they returned with a silver which was still first,” added the former India captain.

He is slated to contest for President of the Cricket Association of Bengal. If he is elected this will be his second term. The elections for the CAB will be held on October 31st. He served as the President there from 2015 to 2019 before moving to the Indian Cricket Board. Ganguly was also offered the post of Indian T20 League Chairman which he refused.

When it comes to the other office bearers, Jay Shah will continue as the secretary, Ashish Shelar has been appointed as the treasurer of the board. Rajiv Shukla will be vice president and Devajit Saikia will hold the post of Joint secretary. Former Indian Cricket Board Treasurer Arun Dhumal has been handed the post of Indian T20 League Chairman.
