IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore is always criticised for their performance. In the past, RCB has released many of its key players over the years like KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shane Watson, and so on. There is always pressure on the people at the top while taking decisions for the team.

Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar were someone who lived up to the expectations of the fans during their tenure for the franchise. Hesson, in particular, took some good decisions for the franchise. Under the leadership of Hesson, RCB played well and played boldly. From 2020 to 2022, the franchise qualified for the playoffs in three consecutive seasons.

Sanjay Bangar helped some of the batters to get better. Dinesh Karthik became the best version of himself in the 2022 season. Shahbaz Ahmed, Mahipal Lomror, and Rajat Patidar performed well for the team in 2022. Unfortunately, in 2023, nothing went right for RCB with the bat except the opening pair and Glenn Maxwell. As a result, the Bangalore-based franchise could not qualify for playoffs for the first time since 2020.

Andy Flower, the new Head Coach of RCB

Due to the failure of the team, the Head of operations, Mike Hesson, and the batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, were both sacked from their positions by the management of RCB. It was rather a surprising decision, as it was technically the first failure of the duo, especially of Hesson for RCB. Fans criticized the management for letting go of a technical head like Hesson.

The franchise has announced its new Head coach for the 2024 season. It is Andy Flower, who was previously the Head Coach of Lucknow Super Giants. Flower has a good record as a coach. The former Zimbabwe player helped his teams to win titles in the Pakistan Premier League in 2021, the Hundred in 2022, and the ILT20 in 2023. The former Zimbabwe great has also won many international tournaments as a coach like the Prestigeous T20 World Cup, the World Test Championship mace, and the Ashes.
