Shardul Thakur’s bags go missing in Mumbai Airport, Harbhajan Singh steps into help

Shardul Thakur scored 33 in the first ODI against South Africa.

India pace bowler Shardul Thakur expressed his frustration at the national air carrier when he found out that his kitbag did not arrive in Mumbai on time. Thakur was part of the victorious ODI squad that won the series against South Africa.

He had to get on a flight from Delhi to his hometown Mumbai. He reached Mumbai on time but was in for a big shock as it dawned on him that his luggage had not arrived yet. As soon as he was aware of the issue, he quickly sent a message to Air India and also stated that such an issue had happened earlier as well on the same lines.

“Air India, can you send someone to help me at the luggage belt? Not the first time that my kit bags haven’t arrived and no staff is present at the location either!!” he tweeted. In another tweet, he mentioned that he was at terminal 2 of the Mumbai airport.

The former cricketer Harbhajan Singh answered the call for help.

“My dear we will make sure you get your bag and our staff will be there to assist you… sorry for the inconvenience..(Ex Airidian Bhajji) we love you.” The former Indian spinner wrote on Twitter.

Shardul Thakur, later thanked the former off-spinner, stating that a SpiceJet official has come to his rescue.

The fast bowler had earlier vented out his frustration for being excluded from the 2022 World Cup squad. He has now been added to the World squad as a replacement for Deepak Chahar, who was added as a reserve to the squad earlier.

“Of course, it’s a big setback. Every player dreams to play in the World Cup, not just play but win it as well,” Thakur said on his exclusion from the squad.

“It’s okay I’m not selected this time. But there’s still a lot of cricket left and also there’s the ODI World Cup next year. My focus will be to do well in whatever matches I play and make winning contributions.” he added.

Shardul Thakur has been good with the bat for the Men in Blue where he has made three half-centuries across formats. His batting has come of age which has provided the much-needed heft to the batting of the Men in Blue lower down the order.

The 30-year-old showed what he was made of once again during the tense chase against South Africa in Lucknow ODI where he struck 33 in a 93-run stand with Sanju Samson to give India a chance when all hell broke loose.
