In what could be big news for RCB, Wanindu Hasaranga, the willy leg spinner from Sri Lanka, has joined the side for the Indian Premier League 2023. The Sri Lankan ace was a big weapon for RCB last year as he bowled economical spells and picked up wickets in the middle overs. In 2022, the Sri Lankan picked up 26 wickets in 18 matches for RCB. He will give more heft to the bowling lineup.

RCB’s bowling lineup has done well in the initial overs but has struggled to maintain momentum. They have not been up to the mark in the middle overs and have struggled in the death overs. In two matches, they have let the opposition drift away with the game in spite of getting a good start. It happened against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. The same thing happened at their home ground against LSG. LSG where 23-3 at one stage, but RCB found a way to lose the match from there.

Marcus Stoinis made65 off 30 balls to bring LSG back into the game

LSG and RCB battled till the very end and LSG won by one wicket. Marcus Stonis brought LSG back into the game. The Australian made an invaluable 65 off 30 balls with six fours and five sixes. Then, Nicholas Pooran came in at number 5 and continued the carnage. The West Indian has played good knocks in all of LSG’s games so far and has justified his 16 crores INR price tag. He blasted the RCB bowlers and made 62 off 19 balls with four fours and three sixes.

In the match against KKR, RCB had KKR at 47-3 before Rinku Singh and Shardul Thakur turned the game on its head. Rinku made 46 off 33 balls with two fours and three sixes. Shardul Thakur, on the other hand, made 68 off 29 balls with nine fours and three sixes. RCB had struggled in the death overs in that game as well.

RCB’s bowling went pear-shaped in the death overs against LSG as well as they tried hard to stop the haemorrhage of runs but could not. The old woes are coming back to haunt RCB as they are playing good cricket but it has only been in patches. It remains to be seen how the 2023 season will unfold for the Bold Army.
