New Zealand did not get off to the perfect start as they lost Chad Bowes early with the score at 20. Will Young looked good for his 17 off 15 with two fours and one six, but he could not convert it into a big score.

Then, Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell had a good partnership to keep things steady for New Zealand. Mitchell fell to Shaheen Afridi while trying to up the ante after scoring 33 off 26 balls with two fours and one six. At the other end, Tom Latham, who is one of New Zealand’s best players of spin, made a valuable 64 off 49 balls with seven fours and two sixes.

Jimmy Neesham and Rachin Ravindra could only add 18 runs together to the eventual score. Mark Chapman made an unbeaten cameo of 16 off 9 balls with one four and one six. The Kiwis ended up scoring 163-5 in their 20 overs. Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi picked up 2-33 and 2-31 respectively in their four-over spells.

Then, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and Shaheen Afridi fell as well. The Men in Green were down in the dumps at 64-6. Iftikhar Ahmed and Faheem Ashraf brought Pakistan back into the game with two heroic knocks. Iftikhar scored a game-changing 60 off 24 balls with three fours and six sixes.

Faheem Ashraf made 27 off 14 balls with two fours and two sixes. The match went on and Pakistan was in a dominating position at 149-8 before the 20th over. Iftikhar was at the crease with Pakistan needing 15 runs.  In a dramatic last over bowled by Jimmy Neesham, he won NZ the game. The right-arm bowler made good use of the slower balls and picked up the wickets of Iftikhar and Naseem Shah to give NZ a four-run win.
