Sachin Tendulkar puts out emotional message on the occasion of Shane Warne’s birth anniversary
On the eve of Shane Warne’s birth anniversary, Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter and penned an emotional note for the late cricketer. Warne, who’s arguably the greatest leg-spinner to have played the game, passed away on March 4th earlier this year, leaving the entire cricket world in a daze. The former Australian spinner breathed his last in Thailand due to a suspected heart attack.
September 13th marks Warne’s birth anniversary and on the occasion, tributes poured in from all over the world. Tendulkar, who was known to share a great camaraderie with the wrist-spinning legend, also took to social media and remembered Warne. In the post, which had a vintage candid picture with the Australian, the former Indian opener recalled the memorable moments he shared with Warne.
“Thinking of you on your birthday Warnie! Gone too soon. Had so many memorable moments with you. Will cherish them forever mate,” read the caption on Twitter.

It must be noted that Tendulkar and Warne played a lot against each other and were part of some of the most memorable matches between Australia and India. While they were hardcore rivals on the field, the duo had nothing but sheer admiration and love off the field. In fact, there are numerous instances of their friendship and intense battles on the field.
When it comes to the numbers, Warne took 708 Test and 293 ODI wickets in a noteworthy career spanning from 1992 to 2007. On the other side, Tendulkar is still the highest run-getter in international cricket despite having bid adieu from the game in 2013. At present, the 49-year-old is leading India Legends in the ongoing Road Safety World Series T20 tournament in 2022.
Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar rolled back the clock and battled against each other in the United States when two sides led by these two clashed in a three-match T20 series in an all-stars tournament, which took place in 2015. Warne’s team won the series 3-0.
