After winning the first two matches of the three-match Test series against New Zealand, England wrapped the series already under their new captain Ben Stokes. The third and final Test kicked off on 23 June 2022 as England aim for a clean sweep over the Kiwis.

In that match, a bizarre incident took place on the first day of this match while the current World Test champion, the kiwis were batting. Henry Nicholls got dismissed in a bizarre way and that become the talk of the town after the day’s end of the play. Now, Indian great Sachin Tendulkar also came up with a hilarious post on his Twitter account regarding the same incident.

‘In gully cricket, we’d declare the non-striker out,’ – Sachin Tendulkar

Speaking about this incident, Sachin shared the video of that dismissal and wrote as caption: ‘In gully cricket, we’d declare the non-striker out,’.

The incident happened when Jack leach was bowling to Henry Nicholls and the batter came down the track to smash a half-volley.

Here is the post shared by Sachin:

The ball went fast at the non-striker’s end where Daryl Mitchell was standing. However, he failed to move away, and thus, the ball hit his bat and deflected to the hand of Alex Lees. English spinner could not believe it as he was in complete shock. Even, as per the law 33.2.2.3, it will be out if a fielder catches the ball after it has touched the wicket, an umpire, another fielder, a runner, or the other batter. Hence, the dismissal stood legal and Nicholls got dismissed unluckily.

Speaking about the match, Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell stitched a solid partnership once again in this series. Mitchell scored another ton in the series on Day 2 as New Zealand scored 329 runs by losing all their wickets. Jack Leach picked up five wickets for England by conceding 100 runs in 38.3 overs at an economy of 2.59.
