‘Sach me GOAT hai bhai’- Fans rejoice as Virat Kohli brings out his 72nd international century, inches closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s record
Having faced an embarrassing defeat in the first two matches, India went on against Bangladesh with a point to prove. The point being, they are still one of the best teams in limited-overs cricket.
After Bangladesh won the toss, they invited India to put runs on the board at the Zuhur Ahmed Chowdhary Stadium. With Rohit Sharma out with a thumb injury, India’s opening saw a change in terms of Shikhar Dhawan and Ishan Kishan.
It was time for Dhawan to break his bad vein of form and put some runs against his name, but the southpaw failed to do so. At just 3 runs, the 37-year-old was lbw by Mehidy Hasan failing again to break his poor run of form.
This is when star India batter Virat Kohli walked in and steered the course for the team. The right-hand batter stayed alongside Ishan Kishan for the majority of the match. Kishan made a sensational double century in just and became only the fourth Indian batter to do so.
Kohli meanwhile stayed on the other end and inched closer to his very own century after more than three years. After Kishan was dismissed at 210 in 131 deliveries, Kohli hit a brilliant six on the leg side to bring his very own century after a gap of 1014 days.
With this century, Kohli went past Ricky Ponting in the list of most international centuries. With 72 centuries, the star India batter is only behind Sachin Tendulkar in the list of most centuries.

Number 72nd for Virat Kohli – The King 👑
Biggest flex for me is “VIRAT KOHLI plays for my country”. Batted King 👑
We waited for 3 long years for an ODI 100 and it was worth the wait.
