A video of actor Rashmika Mandanna entering an elevator was recently trending on the internet and social media users. The video was created using Deepfake, a technology that allows scammers and cyber criminals to modify an image or video using machine learning and artificial intelligence. Now, within a few days, the deepfake tech has found another victim. An edited image of Katrina Kaif is going viral. The image has been altered from a screengrab from the upcoming Tiger 3 film.

In the original Instagram photo, Katrina Kaif is doing an action sequence for Tiger 3 while wearing a towel. The actor is in the same pose but wearing a different and altered outfit in the morphed image, making the image vulgar. The fake and altered image was later removed from social media. While Deepfake is not a new technology, it only appeared a few years ago.

Katrina Kaif goes viral:

Scammers and cybercriminals are increasingly using it to morph videos and images. Many of these videos contain explicit sexual content. These criminals use technology, which employs powerful graphics cards to modify and recreate image and video elements. This is done to disseminate misinformation. It is important to note that morphing images and videos, whether with Photoshop or Deepfake tools, is a crime.

Deepfake technology is capable of easily altering images of real people to make them appear completely different, raising concerns about Katrina’s altered image from the ‘Tiger 3’ movie scene. In this case, the image showed her dressed differently than she did in the film. Rashmika Mandanna’s reputation was potentially harmed when a deepfake video showed her in a situation she was never in. The video showed the famous actor getting into an elevator. The issue was raised by Abhishek Kumar, a journalist and researcher, who called for a legal and regulatory framework to address India’s growing deepfake problem.

For those who are unfamiliar, deepfake technology entails the use of advanced artificial intelligence to create highly realistic but frequently deceptive digital content. This technology can change a person’s appearance and voice in videos or audio recordings, making it difficult to tell the difference between authentic and manipulated content. Check out the concerns raised by the netizens on social media for the actress Katrina Kaif.
