Virat Kohli is the most popular cricketer in the world and one of the most popular sportspersons in the world. The popularity of the star cricketer is unmatched, which can be a boon and a bane on different occasions. The immense star power of Kohli means that anything about him garners huge attention from the crowd. That makes the people spread rumors about him to remain relevant.

One such news about Kohli was spread on social media where the reports claimed that the star batter along with his wife Anushka Sharma might build a cricket pitch in Alibaug farmhouse. While the rumor was spread by a big news agency in India, Virat disappointedly responded that the newspapers that he used to read since childhood have also started to spread fake news.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram and posted a story in which he posted the fake news. With the image of the news, Kohli mentioned that the news was fake. The caption of the star cricketer read “Bachpan se jo akhbaar padha hai, wo bhi fake news chapne lage”, which translates to “The newspapers which I have read from childhood have also started posting fake news.”

As the Indian middle order batter posted that the news was fake, fans criticized the news outlet for spreading fake news. It is not the first time that the Delhi cricketer has openly talked about fake news. Recently, a rumor spread about Virat’s social media earnings. Replying to the rumors, Kohli took to Twitter and wrote that the reports were wrong about his earnings.

The former Indian captain is currently not in any assignment. The Indian team rested the senior players in the ODI series after winning the first ODI against the West Indies. Virat Kohli did not play even an innings in the ODIs against the men in maroon. The star batter has not played a match in T20Is after the 2022 T20 World Cup. Kohli will be back in action when India will play in the 2023 Asia Cup.
