Rusty Theron and David Miller talk about their experience in America as cricket gets a major lift off via MLC

As the USA got its first dose of cricket after a long while, The matches that have been showcased so far in Major League Cricket have shown that the league has got off to a great start. On Thursday (America Time) fans at the Grand Prarie Stadium situated in Dallas were seen soaking in the atmosphere. They were clad in Texas Super Kings (TSK) jerseys. The soccer-loving public in America had just witnessed something different as they had seen a wonderful cricket match.

The stadium at Dallas played host to the now defunct Texas Airhogs minor league baseball club, then the MLC took over the stadium and spent 20 Million Dollars to make it meet cricketing standards. “I am actually a little bit emotional, to be honest. This is such a grand event. There was an unbelievable atmosphere and I want to thank each and every individual who has come out here,” Rusty Theron said pleasantly surprised by the turnout for the opening game.

David Miller who echoed his former South African teammate’s thoughts also conveyed the same. “It’s fantastic to see such a great turnout and the facilities have been fantastic. I think there have been a few guys, kind of questioned around what it was going to be like but it shot the lights out here,” Miller said.

The game took place between TSK and Los Angles Knight Riders (LAKR). LAKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. Devon Conway ensured that TSK were off to a great start despite losing their skipper Faf du Plessis early. The New Zealander made a stroke-filled 55 off 37 balls at the top. Despite losing wickets,  Miller took JSK to 181-6 in their 20 overs. The big left-hander smashed his way to 61 off 42 balls with two fours and four sixes.

In reply, LAKR were no match for TSK’s bowling might as they crumbled to 112 all out in just 14 overs. Pakistan’s Mohammed Moshin was the pick of the bowlers as he took 4-8 in his three overs, and Theron picked up 2-16 in his two overs. Gerald Coetzee took 2-22 in his two overs spell.
