Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, injured himself during the second ODI of the three-match series against Bangladesh and was eventually ruled out of the first Test that India won under KL Rahul by 188 runs. As things stand, the former Indian cricketer, Ajay Jadeja, opened up on Rohit making a comeback and said that the batter must rest for ten more days.

On December 17, Saturday, reports emerged claiming that the Indian skipper informed his availability for the second Test post recovering from the injury. Taking cognizance of the same, Jadeja warned Rohit about playing soon after recovering from the injury, which could cost him a lot in the longer run.

“Tabhi toh bol raha hu Rohit ko bolo ghar me baithne keliye (That is why I suggest Rohit should stay at home). When a player suffers a hand fracture and you cannot hold the bat for about 10 days, even if you recover, you cannot really join the team the very next day. It takes another 1- to 15 days. And we don’t even know the extent of the injury yet. That is why I suggest this. We are looking for a temporary solution and this is the best solution for it,” Jadeja was quoted as saying to Sony Sports.

Would Shubman Gill make way for Rohit Sharma?

As things stand, if at all the right-handed batter makes a comeback for the second Test, it remains to be seen if either KL Rahul or Shubman Gill would make way for the Indian skipper. Given that Rahul would be the veteran’s deputy, chances are less for the batter to be dropped although it is highly likely that Gill might be rested for the next match.

India would hope to carry on with the momentum and seal the series, given that the Bangla Tigers could only draw the series if they win the next Test match to be played on December 22, Thursday. Rohit, on the other hand, would look to take a call ahead of the decider and make a comeback for team India at the earliest.
