India took the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 on Sunday after the fourth Test match resulted in a draw. This is the fourth time that India have beaten Australia in the history of Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The two teams will face each other, once again, in June at the Oval for the World Test championship final. Virat Kohli broke his run of poor form and slammed his 28th century in Test cricket. He had last scored a Test ton in 2019 in November.

Later, at the post match press conference, Rohit Sharma made massive claims on Virat Kohli.

“I don’t think there was any monkey of Virat Kohli’s back. He always loves to perform for the team like he’s done for so many years”, Sharma said this in response to Ravi Shastri’s ‘Gorilla’ comment when Virat Kohli got to his 28th Test hundred.

‘A lot of guys took responsibility and bailed us out’ – Rohit Sharma

“We do understand the importance of this series and the opposition. Lot of hard work has gone into this. At different times we have come up with answers. We knew how important it was to start the series well.  Lot of guys took up the responsibility and bailed us out,” Rohit Sharma added.

Rohit Sharma, himself, scored a wonderful knock of 120 off 212 balls at Nagpur. The Indian skipper led from the front in testing conditions and helped the team win the match by an innings and 132 runs.

The Delhi Test looked even-stevens at one stage but Ravindra Jadeja turned the game on its head. He picked up 7 wickets for 42 runs and bamboozled Australia in a session. India were outplayed in the third Test in Indore when Australia got the better off them and won the game by nine wickets.

In the fourth Test, India put on a strong reply to Australia’s 480 in the first innings. Both Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli scored daddy hundreds. When India will go to the Test Championship final at the Oval, they will be hoping to break that title drought.

India also reached the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship but lost to New Zealand in the summit clash.
