The central contracts of the Indian Team for 2023 have been revealed. Ravindra Jadeja went up to the A+ category. He joined, Rohit Sharna, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli on the list. These four players will get 7 crore INR in a year. Axar Patel, who has also shown huge calibre with his performances with bat and ball, moved up to Grade B from C. KL Rahul has been demoted from Grade A to B.

Hardik Pandya, who has been captaining the T20I side in the absence of Rohit Sharma, moved two places from Grade C to Grade A. Hardik fell in the pecking order last year as he dealt with fitness issues. Shubman Gill, who has been taking international sides by storm with his wonderful batting performances, moved up from Grade C to Grade B. The same promotion applied to Suryakumar Yadav as well.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar have lost their central contracts

When it comes to the younger players, Arshdeep Singh and KS Bharat are reaping the rewards for their good show. Arshdeep has been a good death bowler for India in T20Is. He has added an element of differentiation with his left-arm pace. The left-armer was also a part of the 20-20 World Cup team in Australia. When it comes to Bharat, he has been groomed as the backup wicketkeeper for India over a number of years.

He recently made his test debut in the series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He did not have the best of times as he struggled with his keeping and was not up to the mark with the bat. Bharat replaced Rishabh Pant on the Test side. Pant has been recovering from the accident that happened in December 2022. Kuldeep Yadav has been handed a Grade C contract.

Mayank Aggarwal, Deepak Chahar, Hanuma Vihari and Wriddhiman Saha have been excluded from the contract list. These players are no longer on the test side. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has had an up-and-down year in 2022, did not get a central contract. Ajinkya Rahane has been omitted as well.  Cheteshwar Pujara retained his Grade B contract. Ishant Sharma is also not part of the central contract list.
