India has won 26 medals at the Commonwealth Games 2022 so far, including nine gold, eight silver, and nine bronze. All six wrestlers in action won medals, with three of them winning gold. India has put up a good show in the Birmingham Games so far. They are placed at 8th position on the medals tally.

The Women’s cricket team from India play a vital semi-final clash against England to book a spot in the finals in Cricket at the Commonwealth Games 2022. All games in the tournament have been held at Birmingham in England.

Wrestling, Men

Freestyle: 65kg (gold medal contest): Bajrang Punia bt Lachlan McNeil (Can); 86kg (gold medal contest): Deepak Punia bt Muhammad Inam (Pak); 125kg (bronze medal contest): Mohit Grewal bt Aaron Johnson (Jam).

Wrestling, Women

Freestyle: 57kg (gold medal contest): Anshu Malik lost to Odunayo Folasade Adekuoroye (Ngr); 62kg (gold medal contest): Sakshi Malik bt Ana Godinez Gonzalez (Can); 68kg (bronze medal contest): Divya Kakran bt Tiger Lily Cocker Lemalie.

Badminton (round-of-16)

Men: K. Srikanth bt Dumindu Abeywickrama (SL) 2-0; Lakshya Sen bt Ying Xiang Lin (Aus) 2-0. Women: P.V. Sindhu bt Husina Kobugabe (Uga) 2-0; Aakarshi Kashyap bt Eva Kattirtzi (Cyp) 2-0. Doubles: Treesa/Gayatri bt Leung For Sang/Mungrah (Mri) 2-0.

Lawn Bowls

Men’s Fours (semifinals):  India beat England 13-12.

Squash: Women’s doubles (quarterfinals)

Joshna/Dipika lost to Chan/Ampandi (Mas) 0-2; Men’s doubles (round-of-16): Velavan/Abhay bt Kempsell/Clyne (Sco) 2-1.

Deepak Punia wins the Gold Medal in the Men’s Freestyle 86 kg, while Mohit Grewal and Divya Kakran win two Bronze Medals to take India’s medal tally to 26 medals so far in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

Table Tennis – Women’s Singles Quarterfinal – Sreeja Akula 4-3 Mo Zhang (Canada)

Zhang draws level in the sixth set, but the Indian seals the final set 11-8 to win the match 4-3. What a contest this has been so far!

Akula won the fifth set 11-5 and clinched the sixth set 11-8.

Sreeja lost to Mo Zhang in the fourth set 9-11.

Zhang leads in the fourth game as well and might just end the contest with a win here.

In the third game, Canada’s Zhang re-establishes her command in the match, winning it 11-6.

Zhang wins the first game 11-9, but Sreeja makes a comeback in the next game, winning it with a comfortable margin of 11-4.

Squash – Men’s Doubles Round of 16 – Abhay Singh, Velavan Senthilkumar

India wins the third set 11-8 to beat Scotland and enters the quarterfinal.

In the third set, India leads the match 6-5.

Abhay and Velavan steal the winning points to get level in the match with an 11-10 scoreline in their favour in the second game.

Scotland retains its lead eventually going 9-8 up against India.

India loses the first game 8-11 and is trailing the second game by a lone point. The score 3-4 to Scotland at the moment.

India’s Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar are in action against Alan Clyne and Douglas Kempsell of Scotland.

Table Tennis – Men’s Doubles Quarterfinals

Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shetty are out of the Men’s Doubles race, and Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan are through.

SGP vs IND: Zhe Yu Clarence and Shao Feng Ethan of Singapore win the quarters in straight games with scores of 12-10, 11-7 and 11-7 respectively.

ENG vs IND: Sharath and Sathiyan win the third game 11-4 to seal a spot in the semifinals.

Sharath and Sathiyan lead the match 2-0 with wins of 11-6 and 11-8 in the first and second games respectively.

SGP vs IND: Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shetty are in action against Zhe Yu Clarence and Shao Feng Ethan of Singapore.

ENG vs IND: Sharath Kamal and G. Sathiyan are in action against Sam Walker and Tom Jarvis of England in the Quarterfinals.

Mohit Grewal beat Aaron Johnson by fall to win the Bronze medal and the sixth medal in wrestling for India.

Divya Kakran wins the Bronze Medal match by fall to secure the fifth medal in wrestling today.

Deepak Punia defeats Pakistan’s Muhammad Inam 3-0 winning by points.

Lawn Bowls

India wins against England 13-12 after 15 ENDS to enter its first men’s fours finals and secures another medal in the event, after a Gold in Women’s fours.
