‘Rest nahi doge toh yahi hoga na’ – Fans React to news of Naseem Shah likely being ruled out of ODI World Cup due to injury
Pakistan Cricket Team and its fans’ worries don’t seem to end. Just days after exit from Asia Cup 2023, there is more bad news. Star fast-bowler Naseem Shah is likely to miss the entire ODI World Cup to be played in India. This news has left Pakistani cricket team management and its fans in a huge state of shock.
Naseem Shah was one of the best bowlers for Pakistan in the white ball format with the new ball. The youngster had formed a good partnership with fellow pace bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf.
Naseem Shah blow for Pakistan –
Fast bowler Naseem Shah injured his shoulder during the Asia Cup game against India last Monday. The fast bowler left the field clutching his shoulder after bowling 9.2 overs. Naseem Shah was bowling his final over when he stopped and headed off the field.
The fast bowler had gone through a series of scans and the results came as a blow to the team management. It is revealed that the shoulder to Naseem Shah’s shoulder is actually worse than what was imagined. The Pakistan Cricket Body is likely to consult and go in for another opinion.
If the second round of opinions also mirrors the initial one, then Naseem Shah will miss the World Cup. The fast bowler will also miss the tour of Australia as well as the 2024 edition of Pakistan Super League.
Naseem Shah did not play the key game against Sri Lanka which Pakistan lost in the last ball. Zaman Khan came in as a replacement for the right-arm fast bowler. Naseem Shah had picked 3/36 in the game Pallekele. In the Super-Four game at Lahore against Bangladesh, the right-arm pacer yet again picked 3/34.
It is learned that Pakistan Cricket management will take some time before taking any further call on Naseem Shah. The likes of Mohammad Wasim Jr., Shahnawaz Dahani, and Zaman Khan could be drafted into the Pakistan 15.
There is also concern about the fitness of Haris Rauf who was also injured during the India game. The right-arm pace bowler sat out from bowling during the reserve day and did not come out to bat. Haris Rauf also missed the key game against Sri Lanka on Thursday.
