The Indian Premier League has been brilliant so far. The cricket on show has been top notch and it has been of very high standard. There have been many last ball finishes that have given the fans lot of memories. These have taken place before the halfway stage of the competition. The IPL is where talent meets opportunity and is treated like a festival in India. The two-month extravaganza had wowed cricket fans all over the world.

Virat Kohli has a record that is second to none in the tournament. He is the leading run scorer and had his best season in 2016 where he scored a whopping 973 runs. Kohli, along with many other greats, has made the IPL what it is, today.

He, recently, in an interview named Lasith Malinga and AB de Villiers as IPL GOAT’s. Malinga has won five IPL trophies with the Mumbai Indians. De Villiers has dazzled the crowd in Bangalore with his dynamic stroke play. But he has not won an IPL Trophy.

AB de Villers has scored 5162 runs in the IPL. Malinga picked up 170 wickets in the tournament

Malinga, the sling king, has terrorized batters over the years with his unique action on the ball across formats. He did the same in the IPL. The Sri Lankan has picked up 170 wickets in the greatest T20 League on planet earth. He had an average of 17.19 and a strike rate of 16.6. His economy rate of 7.14 deserves a look as well. Malinga bowled the difficult overs and was often the go to man for his side.

When it comes to De Villiers, he racked up 5162 runs for RCB in his IPL career. He has made three hundreds and 40 fifties in his IPL career. The South African has the highest score 133 in the tournament. He had a average of 39.70 and a strike rate of 151.68. The wicketkeeper batter has rescued RCB time and again from improbable situations and often emerged in the winning side.

The IPL has got bigger and better over the years. This year, there is a separate broadcaster for television and digital space. Yet, the viewership numbers have been absolutely staggering. They keep getting better day by day and this shows the popularity of the IPL among the cricket crazy public in India.
