India and Australia will face off against each other in a four-match Test series and this will be the first series that will be played on Indian soil since 2016-17. Ravichandran Ashwin will be the main trump card for India in the bowling department, given that he has gathered 89 wickets in 18 Test matches that he has played against Australia.

Ahead of the first Test which will be played at Nagpur on February 9, the off-spinner shared a rib-tickling post on the internet which talked about his player profile. He shared a screenshot of his player profile and the organisation that made it, which eventually did not know what Ashwin’s bowling style was and marked it as – right arm off-spin?/right arm leg-spin.

He put out the same post on Twitter and said that he woke up to this hilarious meme on February 5, Sunday. “My morning coffee came with this and I wonder who has done this,” Ashwin wrote on Twitter. Ashwin is also known for experimenting when he is bowling his spinning balls and he has tried different actions and variations throughout his career.

India have won the last two editions of the Border- Gavaskar Trophy

On Indian pitches where spin is expected to play a big role, the Indian Team are expected to field two spinners at Nagpur. Ashwin will be the lead spinner and his spin partners could be Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami are likely to be the frontline pacer bowlers in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

India have to win this series if they have to get into the Test Championship final. The last two editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy were won by India which were held in Australia in 2018/19 and 2020/21. India also won the 2016-17 edition which was held on Indian soil 2-1, given that it was Virat Kohli’s captaincy that changed the fortunes of the team.

India won their last Test series against Bangladesh 2-0 and have been in good form recently in the longest format of the game. India will look to do well against the Baggy Greens in home conditions and book their place in the final of the Test Championship after having lost the last edition in the final to New Zealand.
